THE APRICOT

“The Apricot” is an alteration and addition to an existing four storey house. The original house was built in the 1920s with Federation style features but had been altered on many occasions, with very little original design remaining.

Our approach to the design was to simplify the building both in planning and form so that the building could sit quietly in its surroundings. The interior of the building now has a sense of quietness and calm.

The upper roof terrace is a simple and elegant addition from which the spectacular surroundings can be enjoyed.

One of the wonderful features of the building is a stained-glass window artwork by Melbourne artist Tom Nicholson (with Geoffrey Wallace) It is an exquisite and delicate piece and casts a beautiful light within the house.  It is visible from all levels in the building and creates a magical light that pervades throughout.
